Catholic Committee on Scouting (CCS)

Diocese of Wichita, Kansas

Scouting is Youth Ministry

The Wichita Catholic Committee on Scouting works through Youth Ministry in the diocese and serves the Quivira Council of Kansas and the Ozark Area Council of Springfield, Missouri of the Boy Scouts of America and Kansas Heartland Council in Wichita and Girl Scouts of the Ozark Area in Joplin, Missouri, of Girl Scouts USA. The Committee is dedicated to promoting Duty to God at each level of Scouting.

We are part of Region 9 of the National Catholic Committee on Scouting® (NCCS®), an advisory to the Boy Scouts of America, and the National Catholic Committee on Girl Scouts and Camp Fire (NCCGSCF).

Each year the CCS holds several events to promote Catholic Scouting. These events include Young Scout Day, an Ad Altare Dei and Marian Medal retreat, Pope Pius XII retreat, Religious Emblems Counselor Training, and a Youth Religious Emblems Recognition Ceremony, normally a Mass celebrated by our bishop. We are able to accomplish these events because of the many dedicated leaders who donate their time and energy to providing a quality program.
